act one

a training programme that teaches the basics of acting through a ‘learning-by-doing’ approach. the programme is an optimized mix of theory and practice, and takes an individual from solo sessions to acting with a group.  it facilitates an intense and detailed understanding of the self on stage through carefully chosen exercises and role-play modules.  while the programme culminates in a group related activity, a strong focus is maintained on the strengths and weaknesses of the individual.  the learning methods are enhanced by detailed feedback sessions and interactive sessions of group learning.  the aim of the programme is to make the individual ready and confident for an audition in any stream of the media. by the end of the programme the actor will be equipped to undergo more intensive training as well as build on their experience through practice.

i-m-p-r-o-v-i-s-a-t-i-o-n – i have never feared anything as much as this. the thought of having to be thrown in front of a million people and to "think on your feet" – never came easy to me, but that's what i learnt from this course. 'jump into the deep end'. face it, go through that disgusting feeling of not knowing what you are doing on stage. act one actually taught me one big lesson – don't be a coward, just get up and do. that was one thing that was drilled into us - that actions spoke louder than words – quite literally. - shruti
